Biograpifical scetch of the life and adventures of George Washington Gill Averett, [18--].

Photocopy of handwritten journal of George Washington Gill Averett. Gives a brief account of his life and childhood in Illinois and Missouri, including his conversion and descriptions of persecutions of Mormons in Missouri. He gives details of his trip overland to California to prospect for gold and the sea voyage back to Illinois, setting out for Salt Lake, Utah about 1858 with his wife, settling in Manti, travels and difficulties in Utah's Dixie, trading his land in Dixie for Arizona land, and experiences with Indians. The manuscript copy breaks off in the midst of his account in Arizona.
